This year's Bridger Marching Band's halftime show, "Carnival" will start in Rio de Janeiro, where the largest Carnival celebration in the world takes place…the band will enter the field as if they were parading in the iconic Sambadrome (pictured)…grooving to a samba style street beat featuring Brazilian percussion…and then once in their opening formation, the band will perform the classic Latin jazz tune "Brazil".

The middle of the show will take us to the island of Trinidad & Tobago and the rest of the Caribbean where the flavor of Calypso will get our "Senoritas" shakin' to the tune "Jump In The Line", made popular by the great Harry Belefonte…. Watch out for the impromptu Limbo Band Party featuring our own steel drummers throwin' it down in the pit!

Our "Carnival" show will be completed on Bourbon Street in New Orleans for America's biggest version of Carnival, Mardi Gras! Musically arranged by Assistant Director, Chad Toporski, "Mardi Gras Street Parade" will proceed to the cemetery in a somber transition that will give way, in typical Dixieland style, to a lively recession of “When The Saints Go Marching In”.

The marching band pre-camp begins on Monday, Aug. 1st and runs through Thursday, Aug. 4th from 6-9pm at the high school. The daytime band camp continues the following two weeks, Aug. 8-12 and 15-19 at the high school from 8:30am-3pm. Students should pack their lunch, and bring a water bottle and some sunscreen.  Families and friends are welcomed to stop by and see the "festivities"!  If you can't make it down, come show your bridger pride at Kennywood when the band marches in the Fall Fantasy parade on Sunday, August 28th at 8pm.
