Ms. Zupsic has been in education and has been part of the Ambridge Area School District for twenty-seven years.   She spent approximately five years as a head teacher under the previous Junior High configuration and has served administratively in all grade levels.  At this time, almost half of her tenure has been in administration.

For the past six years, Ms. Zupsic has served as Principal at the Ambridge Area High School.  In her current role as Principal, she oversees faculty, staff, and students daily.  She has helped develop and implement curriculum, assess teaching methods, monitors student achievement, encourages and coordinates parent and student involvement, revises policies and procedures for the district, administers the budget, and hires and evaluates staff.   She was instrumental in securing the National Math and Science Initiatives grant.  Mrs. Zupsic believes that accessibility and exposure to rigorous course work is beneficial to all learners.   By expanding Advanced Placement offerings and creating opportunities to garner college credit prior to entering the collegiate environment students will be given more opportunities for success.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Zupsic served as Principal at the Ambridge Area Junior High School and also served as Principal at Economy Elementary School. In this role, she established a partnership with Pittsburgh Center for the Arts at the Junior High.  She also established and maintained a school-wide positive behavior plans and data teams.  Prior to her role as Principal, Ms. Zupsic served as an elementary teacher for four years and media specialist for ten years.  During her tenure as a classroom teacher, she taught 6th grade Math and Social Studies.

Ms. Zupsic received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s degree in Library Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh, K-12 Principal Certification from the University of Pittsburgh, and obtained her Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Westminster College.  Ms. Zupsic is currently working on her Doctoral Degree in Leadership and Administration from Point Park University.

Ms. Zupsic is looking forward to another incredible school year!  She loves to inspire and encourage students towards their future endeavors and to be the best they can be in and out of the classroom. She is also looking forward to continuing her work with her dedicated staff. She stated, “I think that the staff is the strength overall.  The overwhelming majority strive to be effective and are supportive of other staff when they are in need.  The same is true for looking out for the needs of our students.”

In her personal time, Ms. Zupsic enjoys spending time with loved ones, her dogs, traveling and cooking.  Ms. Zupsic has expressed that traveling is important to her because seeing how other cultures live gives her a unique perspective that allows her to celebrate everyone’s similarities and differences as human beings.  Living in such a global society she views this as important to truly appreciate everyone’s unique differences and be able to learn from one another.
