April 8th Flexible Instruction Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the Solar Eclipse on April 8th, 2024, the Ambridge Area School District will be operating on a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) out of an abundance of caution for our students.

All After-School Extracurriculars and Athletics may operate on a modified schedule.  As the time nears, please be in touch with your child’s Coach or Activity Sponsor for specific event and practice schedules.

During a Flexible Instruction Day, students will log on in the morning to meet with their teacher for attendance purposes. Students will participate in daily instruction utilizing Microsoft Teams. As students’ progress through their daily schedules, teachers will check period attendance to ensure students are still present. To be marked present on a Flexible Instruction Day, students must submit their completed assignments to their teacher the next face-to-face school day.  Ambridge Area School District Cyber Academy Students will continue to follow their prescribed class work completion routine.

If your child is sick during a FID Day and cannot participate in class through Microsoft Teams and cannot complete their assignments, you should call your child’s building office and report the student as being sick.  The student will be marked as absent for that day and the teacher will work with your child on what needs to be completed once the student is better, just as would occur if your child was absent on a normal school day. Also, if for some reason your child cannot participate in their classes during a FID Day because of extenuating circumstances, please notify your child’s school so an alternative assignment can be given.
